Fall is here which means there are plenty of activities in and around the city to celebrate! October is an eventful month. From Halloween to Oktoberfest, there are parties, festivals, and tours to keep you entertained! We’ve rounded up some of our favorites. Not all the events listed are Halloween related, but they do celebrate the changing of the season and are guaranteed to put you in a festive spirit.

Cheekwood Harvest

October 1st – 21st, 2018

Come down and celebrate fall at Cheekwood Harvest. This is an annual event hosted at Cheekwood. The weekend hosts a variety of different activities, so you and your family can pick and choose a day. The extra events include children’s story time and art activities for the kids. Adults can select from beer garden/food trucks or yoga in the park. Regardless of what day you choose to stop by, there will be a tour of scarecrows and a pumpkin house and patch where you can find your perfect pumpkin to take home.

Hot Chicken and Rose

October 5th, 2018

Nashville is synonymous with music but also its hot chicken. The Hot Chicken and Rose event hosted by Phoenix Club is the area’s longest running food festival. Attendees will get to sample hot chicken made from Nashville’s finest chefs. There will be rose wines and signature bourbon cocktails on offer. Proceeds from the event go towards local charities like Monroe Carell Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and Barefoot Republic Camp.

Ghost Tours at The Hermitage

October 4th – 31st, 2018

The Ghost Tours at the Hermitage is an exclusive after-hours event available throughout the month of October. Purchase tickets and tour the mansion and Jackson’s tomb. You’ll learn about the paranormal activity reported on the property. The tour lasts 90-minutes and includes tales of the General Jackson himself, Bell Witch, and information about the Battle of New Orleans. You can choose between two different time slots, but buy your tickets quick! Spots are limited, and they sell out pretty fast.

Nashville Whiskey Festival

October 6th, 2018

For the whiskey and bourbon enthusiast, Nashville Whiskey Festival is an exploration. The event hosts the finest international and domestic whiskeys, bourbons, and scotches. Guests are encouraged to taste, explore, and experience a wide variety of whiskeys and get to know the distillers and their process. VIP tickets are available and include access to some of the rarest bourbon and whiskey tastings.

Nashville Oktoberfest

October 11th – 14th, 2018

This is an annual event hosted appropriately in Germantown. There are quite a few activities that take place. The parade is on the 13th and starts at 1 pm. It will travel from 5th Ave to Jefferson Street. Oktoberfest isn’t just an amazing parade. Over the span of 4 days guests are treated to live music, delicious food, and plenty of German beer. There is a kid’s area for families making it an all-inclusive event.

Boo at the Zoo

October 12th – 28th, 2018

For two weeks in October, the Nashville Zoo puts on their event Boo at the Zoo for families. Kids can dress up and come to meet their favorite animals and Trick-or-Treat around the zoo. Additional activities are available as well such as a bounce house, dance parties, and a corn pit to stay in the spirit of Halloween. Special exhibitions are temporarily on display to keep things spooky like the Frightful Farm or the Haunted Barn.

Tour Nashville

As always, if you find yourself in Downtown Nashville, don’t forget to stop by and see Tommy! Tommy’s Tours one of the most entertaining and authentic Nashville experiences. You’ll get to visit the honky tonks on Broadway and check out the homes of some of your favorite country stars. It’s great entertainment for the whole family.
